Pennington Flash

Lakes, scrapes and woods, and lots of birds!

Pennington Flash near Leigh, Greater Manchester, is described as the area’s best all-round birding site and is well known to many of our members.  Part of Pennington Flash Country Park, it is not a long way from Wigan Flashes that we visited just over a year ago. The site includes a large lake, scrapes, rough grasslands and young woodland.  Waterfowl and waders predominate but there are plenty of other species.

There are a total of eight bird hides.  Footpaths are easy walking and there are toilets and refreshments near the large car park (Pay and Display – sorry!).

Meet as usual at 10.00 am.
