Burton Mere Wetlands RSPB

Get your new “Year List” off to a great start with a visit to Burton!

I think nearly everyone is familiar with the RSPB Reserve at Burton.

Our first field trip of the year is aimed at getting your Year Lists off to a good start (if you keep one), but should provide a wealth of different species in any case.  The focus will be on spotting wetland birds – waders, duck and geese plus a supporting cast of raptors, herons/egrets and woodland birds.

Meet in the reserve car park at 9.30 am off Puddington Lane. CH64 5SF

Please bring your RSPB Membership cards.  There is a £6 charge for non-members.

At the time of writing, all the trails, the Visitors Centre and the hides are open but you are asked to wear a mask when inside buildings.  Toilets are open, light refreshments are available.  The paths are generally good, but may be a little muddy in places after heavy rain. Hopefully there will not be any changes to the restrictions before our visit. Depending on our numbers, we may have to take turns inside the Centre and hides, by splitting into smaller groups.

We have the option to drive down to the salt marsh e.g. at Denhall Lane later on in the day for a quick scan before it gets dark.

Any queries, please contact me.
