A nice mixture of farmland, wetland, salt marsh, scattered trees and bushes beside the Mersey and Weaver Rivers.
Park sensibly on the bridge over the M56 at the end of Marsh Lane, Frodsham ready for a 10am departure.

Directions:
From Wirral, follow the M53 then M56 towards Runcorn/Warrington/Manchester.
Exit M56 at Junction 14 (Chester Services) and take 4th Exit at roundabout towards Helsby (A5117). Keep straight on in c. 1 mile on A56 Chester Road towards Helsby/Frodsham.
Continue for 3.4 miles through Helsby and into Frodsham.
Note: Beware of a speed camera at the far end of Helsby.
On entering Frodsham, pass under a railway bridge, ignore 1st road immediately on left; but after c. 500 yards take 2nd left into Marsh Lane (care – sharp turn).
Note that the post code above should take you into Marsh Lane. But ignore any “you have arrived at your destination” message! Keep following this road for ½ mile until you reach the motorway bridge. (It actually becomes Brook Furlong but it’s not obvious).
The plan is to explore No. 6 and No. 4 beds in the morning.
Then return to the cars for lunch. This is around 3.5 miles return, but you can cut the walk short at any time and retrace your steps to the cars.
In the afternoon we can walk to the River Weaver, and the Weaver Bend if time permits. This would be another c. 2 miles return, but again this can be shortened at any time.
As there is no shelter on the walk, please text or WhatsApp me a day or two before the day of the trip if you are coming. Then if the weather forecast is bad, I can advise everyone of “Plan B”! But hopefully it won’t come to that.
The paths currently are very dry. Generally flat, apart from a couple of short rises; plus 2 stiles each way near the River Weaver. The paths may become a little muddy near the Weaver after some rain, but to be honest, we could do with a bit of rain beforehand to fill the pools. Just hopefully not on the day!
No facilities on the route, but there are public toilets at Castle Park. Return to the top of Marsh Lane. Turn right towards Helsby, passing under the railway bridge. Take turn immediately on the left into park.
