Glyndyfrdwy, near Llangollen

Meet in the village of Glyndyfrdwy, on the A5 between Llangollen and Corwen at 9:45am, ready for a 10am departure.

Take M53 towards N. Wales, then A55.

Come off onto A483 Wrexham by-pass.

At Ruabon junction, exit to take A539 towards Llangollen.

In Llangollen cross the river and turn right, taking the A5 (river on your right) towards Corwen, Betws-y-coed.

[Your satnav may take you along the A5 into Llangollen – just continue to follow the A5 towards Corwen, Betws-y-coed].

About 5.5 miles from Llangollen, you reach Glyndyfrdwy.

The nearest Post code I can find is for St. Thomas Church, LL21 9HG.

The Church is on the left behind the hedge.  A short distance further, there is a sign for Welsh Lamb & Beef on the right!

After c.50 yards, take the small road on the right, signposted to Rhewl, Llantysilio. Red phone box on corner.

Park sensibly on the left as you go down the hill.

[If you miss the turning and reach the Berwyn Arms, you’ve gone too far!].

Our walk will take us up the small oakwood valley.  The stream can hold Dipper, Grey Wagtail; while the woods feature Pied Wagtail, Redstart and occasionally Wood Warbler.  Plan A is to take lunch with us and spend the day out.

It may be a bit muddy by the river after rain, otherwise good footpaths.  There are no facilities on the walk.

Contact me with any questions.

In the event of bad weather on the day, please contact me for confirmation that the meeting is on.
