Greenfield Valley

An interesting mix of wildlife and history. A good café too!

Enjoy a walk through woodland following the route of an old railway up the valley, with pools and a stream remaining from the site’s industrial past.  There is even a ruined Abbey to admire!

Good paths, no need for boots or wellies.

Unfortunately the public toilets are closed until 1st April!  But there is a toilet in the café for customers (I believe masks are still mandatory in Wales in shops).

Directions

Take A540 to Two Mills.  Here turn right onto the A550 then head towards Deeside Industrial Estate and onto the A548.

Take the Dee Crossing bridge towards Flint.

Continue straight through Flint and through Bagillt on the A548.

As you come into Greenfield, go straight across the roundabout and under a high bridge.  Almost immediately after, turn left into the car park (before the traffic lights).

CH8 7EP should take you to the industrial estate that is opposite the car park on the A548.

(n.b. But be aware that your satnav may take you on the A55 rather than the A548 and bring you in down the valley!  The meeting point is not either of the two smaller car parks on the Holywell road).
