Leasowe

Our local hot spot for early migrants.

Always good for more unusual sightings and on our doorstep.

A very local meeting, hoping to take advantage of the passage of Spring migration along the Northern coast of Wirral.  This year the weather has been rather unusual with a warm period of a “false Spring”, followed by a return to winter and now, as I write this the rain has stopped (although many places are suffering flooding still), the sun is shining, the sky is blue and the air is warm.  Some species have arrived in our country much earlier than usual, others have yet to show up.  We shall spend the morning looking for arrivals in the fields and paddocks, not to mention the shore line, around Leasowe.  If members choose to stay after lunchtime the area can be extended for further searching.

High Water is at the time of our meeting so if you arrive early you may like to take a look over the sea wall.

Meeting time is 09.00 to take advantage of bird movement.

Please note.  British Summertime begins on the Saturday night and the clocks go forward one hour.

Meet at the car park by Leasowe lighthouse.  From Moreton Cross go to the bottom of Pasture Road and turn left.

There are pay toilets at the bottom of Pasture Road.

Paths may well be muddy so walking boots or Wellies are recommended.
