Moore Nature Reserve

Meet at Moore NR car park ready for 10am departure.

The reserve is on the outskirts of Warrington, but provides a great mix of habitats including fresh water pools, reedbed, woodland and the Manchester Ship Canal.  We should see a good variety of birds during the day.  There are several hides and a feeding station.

No facilities.

Some paths may be a little muddy after rain.

Directions

From Wirral take M56 towards Manchester.

Exit at Junction 11 and take 2nd exit at interchange onto the A56 to Runcorn/Warrington.

Continue on A56 (ignore left turn to Daresbury) for 2.3 miles.

Take small left turn onto Holly Hedge Lane.  Red sign “NO ACCESS TO PORT WARRINGTON”.  BEWARE NARROW HUMPBACK BRIDGE!

After 0.4 miles, turn left at T-junction onto Runcorn Road.

Continue to Moore village.

After 0.4 mile turn right onto Moore Lane.  (Red sign to PORT WARRINGTON).

Continue down this road for 0.6 mile, crossing the Manchester Ship Canal.

Immediately after the bridge, there is a cross-roads and you will see the car park ahead and to the right of the junction.
