Shropshire Meres

We will spend the morning at The Mere, Ellesmere.

Meet at The Moors Car Park at 9:45 am for 10am departure. This is located on the left hand side of the A495 about 300m beyond the Boat House Restaurant on The Mere.

Post code SY12 0PD

Car Park fee is £2.50 for the day. Credit card only.

(There is also Castlefields car park on the right a bit before The Moors car park, if The Moors is full).

Toilets are in the Visitor Centre.

We will take a leisurely walk around part of the mere before returning to the cars for lunch.

After lunch, we can walk further around the Castlefields area and the Ellesmere Canal. Or we have the option to drive a short distance to Colemere for a circuit of the lake here (Free parking). We will decide on the day.

Both locations feature woodland and farmland with views of the lakes. The meres will hopefully feature winter visitors such as Tufted Duck, Goldeneye and Goosanders, while a good mix of woodland birds should be seen too.

In the event of bad weather on the day, please contact me for confirmation of the meeting.
